Construction Chemicals
6.3.2 CF 128 Filler Foam

6.3.2.3 INSTALLATION DATA
Basic Use
CF 128 typically is used for filling, sealing and insulating around doors and windows, piping, cables, ventilation ducts, and plumbing.

The acoustical properties of CF 128 make it a common choice as an acoustical sealant for sound rated walls. CF 128 is also used to seal openings, voids and gaps for asbestos removal and in concrete forms.

CF 128 is excellent for sealing around door and window frames due to its minimal expanding characteristics, reducing the possibility of foam-related buckling of frames after installation.

CF 128 can be used on new construction as well as renovation/rehab and maintenance of existing facilities.

After curing, CF 128 can be cut, scraped, painted, trimmed or otherwise finished.

Shelf Life
CF 128 has a shelf life of 9 months from the date of manufacture when stored at temperatures of 41°F to 77°F.
Limitations -- Not recommended for...
  • Direct exposure to sunlight because it will cause discoloration and deterioration of the exposed surface. Such effects can be prevented by simply coating the surface with an exterior-grade paint.
  • Use when the temperature of the base material is below 32°F.
  • Use as a firestopping material. Please refer to the Hilti Firestop Inspection & Installation Manual for specific details.

6.3.2.4 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Step #1 Illustration 1. Wet base material to obtain the optimum foam yield. Rewet as needed during application.
Step #2 Illustration 2. Shake the CF 128 can before using.
Step #3 Illustration 3. Remove the protective cap and screw the can onto the dispenser.Note: Do Not Overtighten.
Step #4 Illustration 4. Open the adjusting screw and squeeze the trigger to dispense foam. (Note: Dispense foam freely 4 or 5 seconds into waste container when using DS1 dispenser for the first time.)
Step #5 Illustration 5. Apply the foam by placing the nozzle to the surface and squeezing the trigger. Always leave the can screwed onto the dispenser between applications. When a new can is needed, shake well and change quickly to avoid foam hardening in the dispenser.
Step #6 Illustration 6. If the dispenser becomes clogged, use the CF-R1 cleaner to flush the foam. Always close adjusting screw when not using dispenser. It is not necessary to clean the dispenser if it is functioning properly.
